Time to visit and Climate

Ol Pejeta is a conservancy so the animals and activities are actually all year round activities. However when it is dry around late September and early October and there are actually few tourist around it Is a very pleasant time to explore the conservation alone and undisturbed. April to May is rainy so the grass is green and beautiful and produces great photographs. July to September is also an ideal time for game viewing being dry and wildlife congregating around the water sources but it is very crowded since this are also summer school holidays.

The conservation has an average temperature of 13 ⁰C at the low end and it gets to 20 ⁰ C in the high (hot) times of the year.

Ol Pejeta Wildlife

The big five Lions, leopards, elephants, Buffalos and Rhinos call Ol Pejeta home. See the endangered grevy’s zebra, the two white rhinos and the Jackson hartebeest in the endangered species enclosure. Found on Kenya’s Great Rift Valley corridor, The Lake is a phenomenon destination that has been cited by UNESCO as a world heritage site. The park is famed for the enormous number of flamingos on its shores however since 2014 the number of flamingoes arriving in the alkaline shores of lake Nakuru has dwindled due to the increase in the level of water in the lake making it no longer favorable for the pretty creatures, this is another saddening effect of climate change, with the efforts directed here, scientists have predicted that we might see the flamingoes grace the shores in the near future.

Other than the sparkling white birds Lake Nakuru’s 170 square kilometers is rich with fascinating wildlife and over400 bird species, both black and white rhinos are seen in mornings grazing on the short grass by Lake Nakuru, Rothschild’s giraffes and gazelles are seen grazing around the National Park too.
