Katavi is a warm place generally, temperatures during the day can reach 30 ⁰C and go as low as 17 ⁰C during the night time. Areas at a higher altitude, camps and lodges are cooler.

Katavi National Park Wildlife

Katavi National Park has the highest population Buffalos in the world! It is very common to see a herd of up to one hundred Buffalos. This also provide the unique lion vs. Buffalo action. Prides of lions normally take their shot at a lone Buffalo giving you to a chance to witness one of the most brutal wildlife wrestling match with ferocious tussling and jostling all round, another exciting story for your friends back home. GOMBE STREAM NATIONAL PARK

About Gombe

The Gombe Stream National Park is located on Tanzania’s western boarder to Congo, it is the smallest National park with just around 35 square kilometers. Its highly placed on the Great Rift Valley’s escarpment with Lake Tanganyika flanking the park on its west side. The mountainous rainforest National Park is famous for its chimpanzees and Dr. Jane Goodall detailed study of the highlands primate natives. The landscape of the area is dominated by valleys and vegetation ranges from grassland to thickets to woodlands to thick tropical rainforest making a hike along the Gombe treks in retrospect a very rich experience.

In 1960, British primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall arrived in Gombe area hell-bent on studying the ways of the chimpanzees, human’s distant cousins. she was financed by another renowned scientist Dr. Louis Leaky. Records state that Dr. Jane Goodall is the only human to get accepted by the chimpanzee community and was able to closely monitor and come up with interesting findings on how this primates are more similar to humans than not. Her studies opened the world’s eyes on the life of chimpanzees which was used to help solidify Dr. Leaky’s evolution theory. Reaching Gombe National Park is not as easy as the others, it is on the other side of Arusha and Dar (Tanzania’s major tourist entry points) and once you get closer the last stretch of your journey is done by boat (one might argue that this is actually very epic) however if you hold on it is a very unique destination and a satisfying experience. A trip to Gombe can be coupled with a visit to the nearby Mahale Mountains. Flights from Arusha and Dar-es-salaam to Kigoma (park’s connecting town) are available every day and the boat ride is usually only a couple of hours.

About Amboseli

Amboseli National Park is located on the Loitoktok district south east Kenya, covering an area of 392 kilometer square Amboseli is not the biggest but it surely enjoys a wide variety of  80 species wildlife making it another exciting location to visit when you are in Kenya. AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

About Akagera

In North eastern Rwanda right at the border lies a stretch of savannah, woodlands, papyrus swamps, rolling highlands and a dozen lakes creating one eof Africa’s scenic destination the Akagera National Park.  The Park gets its name from river Kagera on its eastern boundary that flows through and dumps its waters to the labyrinth of lakes in the park, with the largest Lake Ihema another remarkable feature for tourists in the park.

Weather & Climate

NCA has mild temperatures all year round, with highest temperatures during the day reaching 20 ⁰C and the lowest during the nights can reach below freezing point at -6 ⁰C

February to March are the wet seasons with high rain volume, February in the Ndutu area in Ngorongoro crater is famously known as calving season, Wildebeest migrating to the now soaked Ndutu area in Ngorongoro have a unique synchronized birth where about 8,000 wildebeest give birth at the same time, this attracts a host of predators making a spectacular showing of predator Vs. Prey.

June to October is the dry season in NCA the vegetation in the park is less dense and hence it is easier to spot wildlife in and around the park. The days are sunny and dusty giving a soft air that is ideal for photography.

About Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park is one of the most eye catching national park in the country. Hemmingway dubbed the park as “the most beautiful place in Africa”, Now that’s a great compliment, this beauty comes from the fact that it is found inside a rift valley giving it glorious views of the escapement around it. The temperatures are forgiving with the highest recorded at around 28 centigrade during the dry seasons and the lowest around 15 centigrade so it is relatively mild and comfortable. The park is great place to be all year round but January and February when the grass is green and short and the wildlife and birds are easily spotted is a enticing time.

About Tarangire

Tarangire National Park is found in Northern circuit of Tanzania, south of Lake Manyara National park, it is a protected land filled with colossal baobab trees and herds of huge elephants, the park has the highest population of elephants in the country, Despite the fact that it has the wildlife diversity to rival that of the Serengeti it actually does not enjoy the huge number of tourists like Serengeti and Ngorongoro therefore making an exciting and somewhat exclusive experience to those who do make it to the park.

Tarangire National Park has a permament river, River Tarangire, that cuts across the National park and dumps its water south of the park at Lake Burunge. The river is a major attraction in the park and it is the only source of water during the dry season, allowing thousands of wildlife to congregate around it and provide a pretty remarkable spectacle.

Tourists usually tour through the park together with the A-list destinations of Ngorongoro and Serengeti which are nearby. Best Time to Visit Tarangire 

Tarangire national park is a joyous place to visit all year round, however from August to October when it is dry all round animals migrate to the park and head to River Tarangire and other wet waterholes in the park. Thousands of wildebeests, hartebeests, antelopes and more migrate to the park’s water bodies which in turn attracts predators such as lions and leopards too. It is the best time to view wildlife as the grass is short and the wildlife is plenty.

Weather & Climate

Tarangire has friendly cool temperatures all year round with the highest temperatures around 29 ⁰C during January to March and the lowest go down to 13 ⁰C. The park has its peak wet season in between April and May and it’s dry during August to October (favorable safari season).
