Day to day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival

Jambo! Karibu Tanzania, upon arrival at the Julius Nyerere International airport, your driver guide will meet you and take you to your accommodation near Nyerere (Selous) National Park overlooking river Rufiji offering you a great view an instant connection to nature.

Your new home has extraordinary amenities like swimming pools, day spas, bars, and more. Take an optional boat ride on river Rufiji through the park and glimpse greatness in the beautiful sunset.

Day 2 & 3

Nyerere National Park

One of Tanzania’s hidden treasures, Nyerere National park previously known as Selous game reserve is one of the largest parks in Africa, it is bigger than Switzerland! It is also one of the least crowded and hence has one of the most undisturbed natural wildlife ecosystem there is.

Enjoy a two day game drive, in your sights, the massive number of lion prides, huge elephants in their masses, giraffes, greater kudu and more are in their plenty in this expansive National park. After your daily run with the wild you’ll return to your lodge for a dip in the pool and sundowners by the glistening Rufiji river.

Day 4

Mikumi National Park

Today you’ll take a drive North to Mikumi national park previously an extension of Selous game reserve.

Upon arrival in your other home away from home, take your time today relaxing by the pool watching the numerous wildlife stroll around your accommodation another subtle mingle with Tanzania’s wild.

Day 5

Mikumi National Park Game Drive

After an early breakfast we begin our game drive in another southern gem. Our exploration is at Mikumi’s Mkata plains where we will see majority of your favorite wildlife.

Mikumi has a great variety of diverse wildlife, herds of elephants are a guarantee in this park, Elands (Africa’s largest antelope) are also found in great numbers, predators like lions, leopards and cheetahs can also be spotted in your game drives.

Day 6

Drive to Ruaha National Park

After breakfast take a drive to Ruaha National park , you’ll have a very rewarding drive, enjoying the pure green landscape stretching on either side of you.

Arrive in time for lunch at your accommodation and have a delicious lunch amidst nature.

Day 7

Ruaha Game Drive

The park has one of the largest population of big cats in whole of Africa, Ruaha National park has plenty of lion prides, a great number of leopards and cheetahs, making the exciting predatory action very likely in this park.

Take a day game drive in Tanzania’s largest National park which is also untrammeled and unexplored making the Ruaha experience very unique and fascinating, it gets better with no crowds on this part of the country the drive is relaxing and very intimate.

Day 8

Fly to Serengeti
You’ll take a scheduled flight to the grandest National Park of them all, Serengeti National Park. Get a glimpse of the savannah spreading beneath you with the diverse wildlife in the Serengeti going about their day.

Your guide will meet you at Seronera airstrip in Serengeti and transfer you to your accommodation for lunch. Get acquainted with nature and wildlife as you have your leisure time in your nature intertwined safari lodge.

Day 9 & 10

Serengeti Game Drive

Buckle up! As you are in for the best wildlife viewing experience in all of Africa, from big cats, zebras and wildebeest to beautiful birds, Serengeti surely has it all. A drive around Serengeti will certainly leave you in awe, predatory action is almost guaranteed here.

The lush Serengeti grass plains and the tall umbrella-like acacia trees are some other mesmerizing sights in Africa’s grandest savannah. Have a two day, morning and afternoon game drive and explore all this to their fullest.

Day 11

Ngorongoro Crater

Begin your day with a wholesome breakfast with a packed lunch box of niceties. Then, drive and descend into the Ngorongoro crater, home to the world’s densest population of big mammals. Get a close view of the big five incredibly, coupled with various bird species and, more often than not, captivating predatory actions.

Top off with some cultural experiences inside the crater, visit the beautiful, eccentric Maasai boma communities and enjoy nature walks. Finally, wind out your day on one of the comfy accommodations in Karatu town.

Day 9 & 10

Departure

Day 1

Arrival at Nairobi

Karibu Kenya! Karibu Nairobi! East Africa’s New York City. Kenya’s vibrant capital is both a beautiful modern city and a city rich in history.

Take time to relax in your accommodation and enjoy the guaranteed amenities such as; swimming pool, spas, modern bar and restaurants.

Day 2

Nairobi day trip

The dynamic and sophisticated capital has a lot of attraction for you to enjoy, visit Karen Blixen Museum (from the Oscar winning film “out of Africa”) and learn about the famous author’s time at the estate, take a trip to a giraffe sanctuary and have a once in a life-time opportunity to hand-feed endangered Rothschild giraffes.

Continue your adventure through Nairobi by visiting Daphne Sheldrick animal orphanage trust, you’ll learn how orphaned baby elephants and rhinos are bottle-fed and later re-introduced to the wild.

Day 3 & 4

Amboselli National park

Today we leave the city and move to the wild. You’ll depart for Amboselli National park. Having Mount Kilimanjaro majestically poised in the parks background makes Amboselli arguably one of the most picturesque National parks in whole of Africa.

The park is famous for its birdlife of over 600 species and the large unavoidable elephant herds. Take a two day game drive, morning and afternoon and be sure to see lions, leopards, zebras, koro bastard’s and more of the park’s diverse wildlife.

Day 5

Lake Nakuru

Drive to one the famous rift valey lake in Kenya, Lake Nakuru. It is very renowned for the massive numbers of flamingoes that are picking at its alkaline surface. This flamingo congregation accounts for a majority of the world’s population. You’ll find the sight of this creatures in there thousand to be a very impressive sight.

The National Park is also a sanctuary for rhinos, both black and white rhinos be sure to see them too up close. Have dinner and overnight in your accommodations in the park.

Day 6 & 7

Masai Mara

Another early morning breakfast will get you underway for another equally fascinating and memorable experience as you journey to one of the world’s most famous game reserve, Masai Mara. A vast scenic of rolling savannah, Masai Mara has a large population of your favorite predators and prey such as lions, zebras, buffalos, leopards, wildebeest and more.

Enjoy the wildlife diversity in one of Africa’s grandest savannah, which was also voted a world wonder. Take your time to get closer to nature and wildlife with guided walks, exclusive horseback riding in the savannah and game drives to fulfill your undoubtedly undisputed Kenyan adventure.

Day 8

Fly to Serengeti

You’ll take a scheduled flight and arrive in seronera airstrip in central Serengeti, after you check in and have lunch at your accommodation take a brisk afternoon game drive through the sprawling green savannah dotted with umbrella like acacia trees.

You’ll be in time to see some of the wild life diversity and might just catch a hippo coming out of water as the sun sets. Have sundowner cocktail and mocktail as the savannah turn to a beautiful shade of brown in the sunset

Day 9

Full game drive Serengeti

Buckle up! As you are in for the best wildlife viewing experience in all of Africa, from big cats, zebras and wildebeest to beautiful birds, Serengeti surely has it all. A drive around Serengeti will certainly leave you in awe, predatory action is almost guaranteed here.

Day 10

Hemmingway crowned it “the most beautiful place in whole of Africa”. Be on the front seat to see the beautiful elephants, park’s exclusive tree climbing lions and visit the lake manyara’s hot geysers.

Day 12

Departure

After arriving in Ruaha National park your driver guide will pick you at the airstrip and transfer you to your new home.

After a delicious lunch take a brisk walk in the wild, getting to know the biggest national park and getting acquainted to some of the less shy wildlife population.

Day 5 & 6

Day 5

Take guided hikes in the park enjoying the different colorful birds and variety monkey species. You’ll also get a chance to swim and enjoy your time at Sanje waterfalls, the highest water falls in the park.

Day 7

Drive to Ruaha National Park

Down the Udzungwa mountains take a drive to another unbelievable national park due west, Ruaha National park. Arrive at your accommodation in Ruaha National park for lunch and a bit of downtime.

You may also take guided walks in this marvelous park or relax and enjoy the amenities available in your accommodation.

Day 8 & 9

Samburu National reserve
Early in the morning of your fifth safari day you’ll take a drive to another equally unique destination, Samburu National reserve. Located in Northern Kenya this pristine stretch of wilderness is magnificently banked by river Ewaso ng’iro in its south.

Samburu host the normal assortment of wildlife such as the lion, leopards (a lot of them), elephants and more, but what makes this conversation haven even more magical is the variety of rare species that occupy the land such as; Gerenuk, gravy zebras (with huge fury ears), blue legged Somali ostrich and more. Take great game drives, nature walks and enjoy the relaxing amenities in your accommodation making your Samburu experience magical.

Day 7

Sweet waters Game sanctuary

Today you will take a short drive to Sweet waters game sanctuary, located south of Samburu. After a delicious lunch in the camp take a game drive into the sanctuary, the sanctuary is the only home to the highly endangered intelligent chimpanzees and the enormous black rhino.

Enjoy the magnificent sights and later on relax at your accommodation with all the great amenities available.

Day 8

Lake Nakuru

You’ll take an early morning breakfast and start your journey to the rift valley lake national park, Lake Nakuru National park. Located in the floor of the rift valley, this park is picturesque as it is phenomenally filled with variety of wildlife species and beautiful birdlife.

Have guided walks, picnic lunches and a game drive as you get closer to nature and live your adventure.

Day 9 & 10

Day 1

Arrival in Kigali - Rwanda

Welcome to Rwanda! Upon Arrival our representative will greet you at the Airport and you will proceed to your accommodation in Kigali, all the while taking in the sites of the busy green business city of Kigali learning its rich history and culture.

Day 2

Kigali Genocide Memorial
Today you will have an opportunity to learn about the very sad, chilling genocide that claimed millions of lives in 1994 and how the country was able to heal and live harmoniously since then.

You will have an opportunity to learn about this from genocide survivors who were only kids during this gut-wrenching violence. Later on have a glorious meal in the local restaurants with great Rwandan cuisines among Rwandans.

Day 3

Journey to Akagera National park

Today we kick start our adventure in Rwanda by taking a drive to one of the country’s incredible destination. En route we will stop by a mini village where a women’s community of genocide survivors currently reside.

Indulge with this farming community and learn a lot of how a day in a life of a Rwandan farmer looks like, later on have a delicious meal with the locals, you’ll most definitely ask for the Rwandan recipe. Finish up your trip to your accommodations near Akagera National Park.

Day 4 & 5

Akagera National park
Akagera National park lies in eastern Rwanda, right on Tanzania’s border. It is blessed with woodlands, sumptuous savannah, a beautiful lake and lots of wetlands filled with crocodiles and hippos. The park is unique in the sense that it provides game drives through the savannah and boat rides on the lake all the while enjoying the park’s diverse wildlife such as lions, elephants, hyenas, zebras, different monkey species and many more.

Boasting a great variety of bird species Akagera is also a prime bird viewing destination. Enjoy your game drives (day and night game drives), biking and hiking and boat rides around this beautiful Rwandan paradise with world class amenities in your exceptional safari lodge.

Day 6

Drive to Nyungwe forest National Park

Today after an early breakfast we take off on a drive to Nyungwe forest National Park. It is a seven hour drive to Nyungwe forest National Park so we will have several stops on the way to admire the amazing landscape and more.

We will visit the re-constructed Rwanda’s king palace, here you’ll have an opportunity to see Rwanda’s traditional dances and learn a little more about Rwanda’s monarchial times and culture. We will after lunch resume our journey and shortly thereafter arrive at Nyungwe forest National park.

Day 7 & 8

Nyungwe Forest National Park
Welcome to Africa’s most stunning forested National park. One of the oldest rainforest in Africa Nyungwe is uniquely rich in both biodiversity and its unmatched beauty. This mountainous park has a variety of wildlife including the famous chimpanzees and another twelve primate species, some 300+ bird species for some awesome bird viewing experience.

The canopy walk is another famous activity as you get to walk on a canopy bridge over the park. Enjoy this and many more in this beautiful forest haven. After lunch in the second day take a drive to your new accommodation in Ruhengeri, gearing up for the famous gorilla trek.

Day 9

Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast you’ll proceed to kinigi trekking station in the volcanoes National park, you’ll then have a guided trek through the beautiful forest for a couple of hours enjoying the green views and beautiful birds until you come face to face with the endangered mountain gorillas which are breathtaking in their size and very impressive to observe, you are allowed to enjoy the company of this massive primates for only one hour.

You’ll have an opportunity to visit the Muheza mountain gorilla veterinary project where you’ll learn from ex- poachers about the illegal poaching of these gigantic primates and from doctors the various ways the mountain gorillas get rehabilitated.

Day 10

Golden Monkey tracking

Today you will take an identical trek to that you did on the previous day only on a different path, this is to see the also endangered golden monkeys.

You’ll be amazed by the antics of this beautiful primates as they jump from one tree to another in unbelievable speed and style and how they do it with pure grace. You’ll also have time to explore the park seeing the beautiful gazelles, antelopes and other animals.

Day 11

Rubavu-Lake Kivu

After a tiring time tracking the primates it is now high time you relax by the beach. Take an hour drive to Rubavu a town on the north of lake kivu. Rubavu’s water front is lined with beautiful old colonial mansions, hotels and trendy bars by the shore that are perfect for sundowner cocktails.

Enjoy your day in Lake Kivu, a beautiful lake with impeccable emerald green waters and surrounded by mountains making it a photographer’s dream. Take boat rides and do some kayaking enjoying the lake and its shores.

Day 12

Departure

It is your last day in this Rwanda Primates Experience , the end of a unique experience, we hope to be seeing you again. Take a drive to Kigali for your flight back home.

Day 1

Arrival in Kigali - Rwanda

Welcome to Rwanda! Upon Arrival our representative will greet you at the Airport and you will proceed to your accommodation in Kigali, all the while taking in the sites of the busy green business city of Kigali learning its rich history and culture.

Day 2

Kigali Trip Genocide Memorial
Today you will have an opportunity to learn about the very sad, chilling genocide that claimed millions of lives in 1994 and how the country was able to heal and live harmoniously since then.

You will have an opportunity to learn about this from genocide survivors who were only kids during this gut-wrenching violence. Later on have a glorious meal in the local restaurants with great Rwandan cuisines among Rwandans.

Day 3

Journey to Ruhengeri

Today you will take a drive to Ruhengeri which is four hours away from your Akagera accommodations.

You will make some stops on the way for lunch with the locals and also to observe the beautiful scenery of the beautiful Rwanda landscape including that of the virungas five massive dormant volcanoes looming large.

We will arrive at our lodge for an overnight stay enjoying world class amenities offered in our accommodation.

Day 4

Gorilla Trek
After an early breakfast you’ll proceed to kinigi trekking station in the volcanoes National park, you’ll then have a guided trek through the beautiful forest for a couple of hours enjoying the green views and beautiful birds until you come face to face with the endangered mountain gorillas which are breathtaking in their size and very impressive to observe, you are allowed to enjoy the company of this massive primates for only one hour.

You’ll have an opportunity to visit the Muheza mountain gorilla veterinary project where you’ll learn from ex- poachers about the illegal poaching of these gigantic primates and from doctors the various ways the mountain gorillas get rehabilitated.

Day 5

Golden monkeys

Today you will take an identical trek to that you did on the previous day only on a different path, this is to see the also endangered golden monkeys. You’ll be amazed by the antics of this beautiful primates as they jump from one tree to another in unbelievable speed and style and how they do it with pure grace.

You’ll also have time to explore the park seeing the beautiful gazelles, antelopes and other animals.

Day 6

Fly to Serengeti
An end of one adventure is the beginning of literally another big one. Take a flight over Rwanda enjoying the beautiful mountainous forests, rivers and lakes spiraling the green paradise to Serengeti, the world’s wildlife capital, home to Mufasa, Simba and Pumba, have a bird’s view of the safari haven with rivers pouring from hills, green grass rolling on either side of clear brown paths and masses of wildlife going about their day.

Watching Rwanda’s and Tanzania’s wild unfolding will surely be a very rewarding experience.

Day 7 & 8

Serengeti National park

Buckle up! As you are in for the best wildlife viewing experience in all of Africa, from big cats, zebras and wildebeest to beautiful birds, Serengeti surely has it all. A drive around Serengeti will certainly leave you in awe, predatory action is almost guaranteed here.

The lush Serengeti grass plains and the tall umbrella-like acacia trees are some other mesmerizing sights in Africa’s grandest savannah.

Day 9

Ngorongoro Crater
Begin your day with a wholesome breakfast, with you, a packed lunch box of niceties, drive and then descend into the Ngorongoro crater, home to the world’s densest population of big mammals. Get a close view of all of the big five in an incredible fashion, coupled with a variety of bird species and more often than not captivating predatory actions.

Lake Eyasi
After having a run with the wild, have some down time and drive to lake eyasi area for some interesting and educational cultural excursion. Game Drive Kogatende

The Tarangire national park will give you a great introduction to the wild with its beautiful rivers and plains and the variety of animals in the park.

Day 3

Lake Manyara National Park
After an early breakfast and with your packed lunch boxes of goodies, take a short drive to a neighboring park, which in its own right is a very top tier destination, Lake Manyara National park, It is not the biggest park nor densely populated but located between a rift valley and a great lake it is clearly one of the most beautiful and remarkable place for a game drive.
