Tanzania Travel Information

Tanzania is great and beautiful all year round, there is somewhere memorable to go and something breathtaking to see and do at any time of the year as far as wildlife safari is concerned however it is best to visit Tanzania between June and October where it is generally dry and the wildlife can be seen clearly in greater masses.

November to may can have some periods of rain but around December to march is an equally impressive period it might rain a little but it is generally cool and less crowded so very enjoyable, it’s also calving season for those in love with the great migration cycles.

As we all know there is a global pandemic in COVID 19 and we care deeply for everyone’s safety so that includes our esteemed visitors and our staff, A list of government approved COVID 19 regulation is attached so as to get our visitors aware of what is expected of them and Us to keep everyone safe and let y’all have a good time.

Barring from the global pandemic, it is as per International Health Regulation (IHR) that travelers from yellow fever endemic countries are required to have been vaccinated against the disease. We inform our visitors prior if they are required to have such vaccination.

Travelers are also advised to take anti-malarial drugs prescribed by their doctors before coming to Tanzania, keeping them safe from Malaria. We also encourage our visitors to carry with them insect repellant cream to protect you from bites.

Comprehensive health insurance is also required before you travel. Also a temporary AMREF flying doctor membership is also recommended to cover emergency evacuations.

Personal items such as cameras binoculars and the like are imported duty free however sophisticated filming equipment, musical instruments, recorders and the like may require the visitor to pay custom bond guaranteeing its re-exporting. Firearms require a special permit that should be obtain prior to your visit here. Be sure to keep receipts for cash purchases of souvenirs of local handicraft and ownership receipts of any wildlife trophies for presentation to custom officials on depature

Tanzania uses TSHs currency. You can make currency exchange at any commercial banks, certified currency dealers or Bureau de change located all around the country from the airport to areas in the cities and towns you’ll be at.

Safari vehicles and small aircraft have a relatively small luggage capacity so you are advised to carry light suit cases as opposed to bulky ones to avoid more costs.

The best outfits and accessories for a safari are as follows:

  1. Light cloths of neutral color to blend in the wild. Cotton slacks, shirts and pants are a great comfortable choice, khaki is the best neutral color to go with. Avoid colorful cloths with lots of patterns it scares off the animals/
  2. Comfortable trainers as you will be going for walks and going in and out your safari jeep most of the times so comfortable trainers are a very good choice. Avoid huge hiking boots as they take up much of the space in your luggage and are not necessary.
  3. Combat pants are great with their many pockets to keep your essentials sunscreen, cameras and so on in a convenient fashion.
  4. Light jackets and fleece are very useful especially in the morning and night time when it can be cold.
  5. Hats and sunglasses are also a great idea as the sun can be merciless at times in the savannah.
  6. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit.
