Board your light aircraft at Arusha. The flight path takes you directly over the Ngorongoro Crater — from the air, the perfect circular bowl reveals its full scale, a miniature world of grassland and lakes set within a rim of ancient lava. Land at Seronera airstrip and begin your first afternoon game drive.

A full day exploring the central Serengeti plains around Seronera. This is one of the most productive wildlife areas in Africa year-round, with resident lion prides, cheetah, and leopard complemented by vast herds of zebra and wildebeest.

Drive south to the Ndutu area on the border of the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. During the calving season (January to March), up to 8,000 wildebeest calves are born here every single day. Cheetahs, lions, hyenas, and wild dogs converge on the vulnerable newborns in extraordinary predator concentrations.

Another full day tracking the calving herds and their predators across the short-grass plains. The Ndutu woodland provides habitat for leopards and African wild cats between the drama of the open ground. Birdlife explodes during this season.
