Morning visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, the colonial farmhouse that inspired Out of Africa, set against the backdrop of the Ngong Hills. Then to the Giraffe Centre, where you can feed endangered Rothschild giraffes by hand at eye level on the elevated platform. Afternoon at the Daphne Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage for the daily mud-bath feeding session.

Drive to Amboseli, Kenya's most iconic park, where enormous elephant herds roam against the snow-capped backdrop of Kilimanjaro. The mountain is visible on clear mornings in extraordinary detail — its glaciers reflecting above the dust of the savannah below. Amboseli supports over 600 bird species and reliable populations of lion and leopard.

A complete day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. The park's open grasslands and swamps make animal watching straightforward and deeply rewarding. Large elephant families move in slow processions, mothers shepherding calves through the acacia groves.

Drive north to Samburu — a rugged, semi-arid reserve along the Ewaso Ng'iro River. Samburu is famous for the "Samburu Special Five": Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk (the long-necked antelope), and beisa oryx — all northern species found nowhere else in Kenya. Optional horseback riding along the river.

Morning game drive along the Ewaso Ng'iro River where leopards are remarkably habituated and often seen at close range in the riverine trees. Crocodiles line the sandy banks. The resident lion pride hunts at dawn. Afternoon at leisure or optional cultural visit to a Samburu manyatta.

Drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to the largest population of black rhino in East Africa and the last two northern white rhinos on earth. The conservancy also supports East Africa's only chimpanzee sanctuary, where rescued chimps live in a large forested enclosure open to guided visits. Sundowner game drive across the open plains.

Drive to Lake Nakuru, famous for its enormous flamingo flocks that can reach two million birds, turning the shallow alkaline lake entirely pink. The park is also a rhino sanctuary — both black and white rhinos — and supports healthy populations of lion, leopard, and Rothschild giraffe.

Drive south to the Masai Mara — Kenya's most celebrated wildlife reserve and one of the great wildlife destinations on earth. Voted repeatedly among the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, the Mara supports year-round populations of lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and hippo, in addition to hosting the Great Migration from July to October.

A complete day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Horseback riding across the open savannah alongside zebra and giraffe is available as an optional extra for the ultimate immersive experience. Big cat sightings are among the most reliable anywhere in Africa.
